Hypnotherapy is simply psychotherapy or counselling applied using the medium of hypnosis. With hypnosis we create change on the unconscious level. We teach the unconscious mind other, more beneficial ways of responding to a particular situation or problem.

What is involved?

Therapeutic hypnosis is a peaceful, creative, productive state. Hypnosis is a natural learning state, allowing access to the unconscious mind where instinctive behavioural changes and responses are created and thus allowing new learning abilities and potentials to develop.

How long does it take?

Here at Simply Healing Karen practises solution-focused hypnotherapy. This means that we immediately establish a timeframe and work towards resolving situations as quickly as possible, often in just one session. Emphasis is always on beneficial outcomes rather than focusing on past problems and patterns. The initial session lasts 1½ hours. If subsequent sessions are needed they are for just 1 hour.

What do I do and what does it feel like?

The hypnotist communicates with you in a way that allows you to become extremely comfortable and relaxed and which allows your attention to focus on a narrow area of experience.

Anyone who has been hypnotised knows that they retain control over their actions. The hypnotised person knows who and where they are, but is also strongly focused on internal realities, such as sensation, memories or imagination.
